What are you sowing?

“A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.” ~ ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:18-19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What are you sowing ?

It’s easy to get carried away in your mind about everything that surrounds you on a daily bases. It’s easy to pay mind to obvious actions and completely avoid the little details. It’s so easy to think and say “Why me? What did I do so wrong in life? When am I going to catch a break?” All these questions being repeated on a daily, on the hour, on the minute, and on the second. Why, what, and when. The big “W” that does absolutely nothing but get in our way. Distract us from the truth. Distract us from really seeing what we are begging to know! The wrong “W” to ask in these moments. The big “W” that never gets mentioned but it’s key to every answer. WAIT.

If we were to take a step back and observe our scene, our perspective will change dramatically. If we were able to take a big breath and retrace our steps, we will see what exactly lend us to what we are living now. If we knew how to take everything in and wait, the process wouldn’t feel like it’s on repeat. If we were to instill the courage that God has deposited in us to ask ourselves the deepest questions. The courage to ask the questions that will change our whole life. And the courage to answer them truthfully even if it hurts us.

What are you sowing ? What did you sow ? In my last post we spoke about our tongue being what gives life or death to our goals and dreams in life. What are you sowing? What did you plant in that moment of desperation, in that moment that you craved change? Where did that seed get taken out from? What drove you to plant that seed? What did you plant, that made it grow into something you didn’t expect? For you didn’t expect the results but the results are exactly what you planted!

Life changes are taken from two roads, two path, black or white. Negativity could cause someone to change to a positive person or remain a manipulator of negativity. Or someone’s life could cause them to branch out and help those in need. The whole point is that where you stood once was the motive to where you stand today. It’s important to remember in those moments what drove you to change, to plant that seed. Did the hurt cause you to plant a seed of revenge? Did that broken relationship cause you to plant that seed of depression, anxiety, victim, insomnia, and suicidal thoughts/actions. Did that promotion cause you to plant that seed of courage? Did starting a family cause you to plant a seed of unity, hope, and faith? If you trace back your steps did the seed you planted rooted off evil or good emotions/ desires?

What does this have to do with your situation? Everything! If your life is swirling out of control, goodness isn’t what you planted. If your life is expressing the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith (Galatians 5:22)), goodness is what you planted. What you planted is also the spirit you walked into (Galatians 5:25). What you planted was either the beginning to a new life or a painful slow death. Many will call the slow death process “Karma”. It’s not karma, it’s called you reap what you sowed. You may have sowed something to purposely hurt someone, but instead you hurt yourself. You may have sowed something to bless someone, yet find that the blessing fell in you. You are a product of your product. You are the seed that you planted.

I have encountered both types of sowing. I have planted seeds that I wasn’t aware of until it presented itself. I have also purposely planted seeds as a first step to making my situation a good one and no longer a bad one. The seeds I planted that weren’t good, weren’t good because who it affected in the long hall was me. Those moments where I will literally sparking a flame to prove to people how wrong they were to think negative of me. Those seeds hurt! I was killing my own soul by making it compete with people it didn’t have to compete against. When you focus so much on being perfect that in trying to be perfect, you lose yourself completely. Instead of letting God expose what was hidden and the motives of my heart (1 Corinthians 4:5). God doesn’t want us to feel lost but to found ourselves in Him. However the seeds that I planted for good will take endless blogs to explain how beautifully they have blossomed. There is nothing more beautiful and rewarding than sowing a seed to bless someone’s life, yet God makes sure that the first one it will bless is you.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN SOWING:

1. The motive of the sowing.

2. Will regret be attach to it?

3. Is it a blessing for everyone?

4. If the seed you planted came back to you, will you be happy with it?

5. Is the sowing allowing growth or hindering it?

6. Is the sowing good or evil?

7. Is the sowing God approved?

Remember what you sow is what you reap. What you reap will spread. What is spread will impact all its surrounding. What is surrounding you is what you sowed. You are that seed you planted!

PRAYER: Repeat out loud if you wish to.

God,

Here I am once again at your feet. For at your feet I find my worth, my purpose. Help me sow in season and out of season, for the harvest could be of blessing and not of evil. For the harvest could bring alive the fruits of your spirit. For in the harvest I can be surrounded by love, joy, peace, long suffering, goodness, and a deeper faith. For in harvest I can see that the seed was blessed and approved by you and not from my own emotions or motive. For a harvest is wide and spreads greatly. May the harvest spread your truth and nothing less than that. I ask you to protect my heart, and guide my mind and soul. May my soul follow your call and will at all times. May my spirit be sensitive to your voice and words. May your voice convict me of my wrong doings and fix me. May the Holy Spirit ensure me of my right doings. May you be delighted when you look at me. Forgive me for everything I have done to this point. Forgive me for all my foolishness and for depending on the wisdom that was given to me from this world. May I plant a new seed with you today. A seed that will mark the beginning of a new journey with you. A seed that can only be watered by your grace and mercy. A seed that can only grow according to Your will. May this seed be the seed that unites me closer to you Father. A seed that will multiply more seeds for your Kingdom. I thank you for sowing this desire in me, and for being my guidance and light from this day forward. Amen.
